Prime Minister of Georgia Reviews Progress of Construction Works on Residential Blocks for 1747 IDP Households in Zugdidi
Modern residential blocks meeting contemporary standards are being built for internally displaced families in Zugdidi. Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia inspected the ongoing construction together with Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Security Mikheil Sarjveladze and other members of the Government.
"Approximately a year and a half ago, we laid the foundation capsule here and the construction of residential buildings for internally displaced persons began. The buildings have already been constructed. The remaining works are now underway and in about one year over 1700 displaced families will receive fully renovated apartments in these buildings. This is a very important social project and another expression of the state's care for our citizens, especially for our displaced fellow citizens," stated Irakli Kobakhidze.
As part of the project, seven residential buildings are being constructed. Two buildings have already been completed, while interior painting and finishing works are nearing completion in three additional buildings. Following completion of the construction works, the resettlement programme also envisages the development of external infrastructure.
The apartments in Zugdidi will be handed over to internally displaced families with completed renovations in 2027.
