David Songulashvili visited the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Regional Division of the Department of Environmental Supervision

Mr. David Songulashvili, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, recently visited the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Regional Division of the Department of Environmental Supervision.
The State Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, Mr. David Verava, and the Head of the Environmental Supervision Department, Mr. Levan Jgarkava, accompanied the Minister.
During the visit, Minister Songulashvili toured the regional division office, got acquainted with the work process, and received information about the current situation in the region, including challenges and the activities of the division.
As mentioned, the Department is targeted at crucial environmental issues facing the region, particularly illegal logging and poaching. To combat these challenges, the regional department staff maintain a heightened level of vigilance, operating 24/7 to prevent, detect, and address any violations of the law. Additionally, they respond promptly to calls received through the Ministry's hotline (153).
Notably, environmental protection remains a top priority for the Government of Georgia. Therefore, strengthening the Environmental Supervision Department and its regional divisions is crucial to ensuring effective oversight and enforcement of environmental laws.
