Embassy of Japan handed over an Agricultural Laboratory Equipment in Zugdidi Municipality
The project was funded within the Grassroots Human Security Grant Program (GGP) of the Embassy of Japan. Within this project, laboratory equipment was purchased for the agricultural centre in Zugdidi, which will ensure laboratory examinations and provide quality certificates, for enabling more competitiveness of local farmers and for promotion of food safety in Georgia. Grant Amount is 69’500 USD.
The opening ceremony attended by H.E Mr. IMAMURA Akira, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Georgia; Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Region, Mr. Malkhaz Toria; Mayor of Zugdidi, Mr. Giorgi Shengelia and Chairperson of the Municipal Council, Mr. Mamuka Tsotseria; Also, Head of the Department of Relations with the Regions of the Agricultural and Rural Development Agency, Mr. Lasha Shalamberidze and representatives of Association for Agricultural Development (AFAD).
"Today we are hosting the Ambassador of Japan. Exactly with the financial assistance of the Government of Japan opened a modern agricultural laboratory in Zugdidi. Which will ensure laboratory examinations and provide quality certificates, for enabling more competitiveness of local farmers.
The amount of grant funding is up to 70 thousand dollars. On behalf of our region, thank you to the Embassy of Japan and the Japanese people for this assistance, "Malkhaz Toria told reporters after the meeting.
