Four ships from Standing NATO Maritime Group Two (SNMG2) arrived in Poti, Georgia

Four NATO ships, assigned to the Standing NATO Maritime Group Two (SNMG2) are visiting the Georgian port of Poti on March 15-18. Which includes: the flagship "CRISTOBAL COLON" (Spain), "REGINA MARIA" (Romania), "KEMALREIS" (Turkey) and "SMELI" (Bulgaria). The unit is led by Rear Admiral Manuel Aguirre Alderegia. Hosted by the State Representative of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Malkhaz Toria, Poti Mayor Gocha Kurdghelia, Sakrebulo Chairman Beka Vacharadze and representatives of the Border Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The purpose of the visit is to increase the interoperability between the naval forces of Georgia and the member and partner countries of the Alliance.

Against the background of the Coronavirus pandemic, the visit of NATO's second permanent naval unit to Georgia is a clear message of support for our country.

It is important that the visits of the NATO naval unit to the Black Sea ports of Georgia are regular, which is one of the tangible results of NATO-Georgia cooperation in strengthening the security of the Black Sea.

The visit of the unit to Georgia is carried out in full compliance with the recommendations of the National Center for Disease Control.

NATO ships will leave the territorial waters of Georgia on March 18, after the completion of the planned exercises with the Coast Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
