Municipal transport has resumed traffic in Zugdidi. In order to prevent coronavirus, passengers will not be allowed on the bus without a mask, and  distancing will be maintained. Municipal transport will run daily except weekends. Zugdidi fleet has been renewed with 20 new buses, and 5 more buses will be added in the coming days. These buses will serve the population of the city, as well as administrative units.

"We have provided regulations, the social distance in the buses will be protected as much as possible, the wearing of a face mask will be controlled. It is important to upgrade the fleet and modern buses will serve customers. We also have another good news: Zugdidi municipal transport has switched to electronic payment system, which is also important for the prevention of coronavirus, because passengers will not have access to money, "- said Malkhaz Toria.

Tariff preferences are functioning on municipal transport. Benefits will be enjoyed by: pupils, students, beneficiaries of the free canteen, people with disabilities of the first group, war veterans and persons equal to them, honorable people of Zugdidi.

Electrical panels were installed on the bus stop. Also, five touchscreens have been installed in the central part of the city, through which citizens can get information about both the bus schedule and municipal projects.

With the upgrade of the buses, it is important that in the village Rukhi  will be arranged public transport autopark.

In 2020, 25 new buses were purchased for Zugdidi and 10 for Poti within the framework of the Georgian Urban Transport Development Program. The program is funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
