Apartments Handed Over to 360 Internally Displaced Families in Zugdidi
360 Internally Displaced Families residing in dilapidated buildings become owners of the apartments in newly constructed residential buildings in Zugdidi.
Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, Ekaterine Tikaradze, Director of Agency of IDPs, Besarion Simonishvili, Majoritarian MP in Zugdidi, Irakli Chikovani, Acting State Representative in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Malkhaz Toria, Mayor of Zugdidi, Giorgi Shengelia and Director of Municipal Development Fund, Giorgi Shengelia handed over the keys from new apartments to the internally displaced families.
At this stage, in Samegrelo Region 68 dilapidated buildings have been closed. In addition, in Baramia street, Zugdidi, construction of 5 residential buildings designed for 600 families is ongoing. The apartments will be provided to internally displaced families residing in dilapidated buildings, as well as those assigned with the highest rates according to the criteria.
Upon distribution of the apartments, all dilapidated buildings of category three and category four in Samegrelo Region, where IDPs have been living in harsh conditions during the years, will be closed.
The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, performs construction of modern housing for IDPs and ensures environment improvement of adjacent area.
During the last 8 years, 22 655 Internally Displaced Families have been provided with housing countywide, within various programs, and this process will continue even in more active mode.
