Tea Akhvlediani and Malkhaz Toria handed over food baskets to large families and lonely elderly people living in the villages near the dividing line
At the initiative of Director General of the SOCAR Energy Georgia Mahir Mammedov and the involvement of the Office of the State Minister, 2 174 families of the villages along the dividing lines will receive the assistance.
The distribution of aid packages started on December 25 in 116 villages of Samegrelo, Shida Kartli, Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Imereti, and Racha.
The first activity took place in Zugdidi Municipality villages adjacent to the Division Line -Rukhi and Rike. Tea Akhvlediani, the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, Levan Giorgadze, the Director of SOCAR Georgia Petroleum, MP Irakli Chikovani, Zugdidi Municipality Mayor Giorgi Shengelia and the Acting State Representative Malkhaz Toria attended the event. The minister handed out food baskets and hygiene items to a socially vulnerable large families and a loneliness people.
Up to 460 socially vulnerable families living in the region will receive the assistance packages with the support of SOCAR Georgia Petroleum.
Boxes full of food will be delivered to a total of 3 000 families across Georgia. The cost of food to be distributed is GEL 279 570.
“In Zugdidi Municipality villages near the dividing line, together with the State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, we handed over food baskets to large families and loneliness people for the New Year, along with Zugdidi we will receive the assistance packages to large families and single people living in the villages along the dividing line Tsalenjikha and Mestia Municipalities. In addition, food baskets were received by orphans and children with disabilities living in the same villages. It is important that the public and private sectors take care of the citizens who need our assistance the most during a pandemic time," Malkhaz Toria said.
