Giorgi Gakharia and Malkhaz Toria Visited the Geo Nuts Hazelnut Processing Enterprise, Which was Created With State Support
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia together with acting State Representative of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Malkhaz Toria and Environmental Protection and Agriculture Minister Levan Davitashvili visited the Geo Nuts hazelnut processing enterprise. The enterprise, which meets modern standards, is located in the village of Ingiri in Zugdidi Municipality, and was created in 2018 with the financial support of the state, within the framework of the United Agro Project. The Prime Minister and the minister of environmental protection and agriculture were briefed by the director of the enterprise on the complete chain of the production process, which entails receiving the produce, processing, shelling, roasting, packaging, and preparing the final product for export. A total of 1,558,000 GEL has been invested in the Geo Nuts hazelnut processing enterprise, including a grant of 600,000 GEL and 779,000 GEL in preferential agro credit. The enterprise, which employs up to 100 people, annually produces 7,000-10,000 tonnes of various hazelnut products, all of which are exported. The company also owns a refrigerated warehouse, which was set up at an adjacent location with the support of the state and USAID. The Prime Minister and the minister of environmental protection and agriculture visited the refrigerated warehouse as well.
