President Zourabichvili Tours Renovated Zugdidi Botanical Garden and Dadiani Palace
President Salome Zourabichvili toured the Botanical Garden of Zugdidi, which saw a complex renovation process that ended two months ago.
The buildings in the Botanical Garden, walkways, an artificial lake, and a herbarium were renovated through a USD 10 million project. New varieties of plants were added to the garden. The Zugdidi Botanical Garden and four historic gardens were included in the cultural route of the Council of Europe. Since 2019, Georgia is a member of the Union of Historic Gardens of Europe.
The project was implemented by the Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, along with Zugdidi City Hall, with the sponsorship of the World Bank. The Georgian Museum Association prepared the design of the project, with the documentation financed by the CARTU Foundation and the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation.
The President also toured the renovated Dadiani Palace and its treasure exhibit where unique church items, golden icons, and jewelry from the 10-19th centuries are displayed.
President Zourabichvili toured the Zugdidi Botanical Garden with the Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti and the Mayor of Zugdidi.
