The Representatives of the State Representative of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti laid a wreath at the bust of Zhiuli Shartava to honor and pay tribute

The State Representative  also paid tribute to the memory of Guram Gabeskiria, Geno Adamia and Nodar Kankia.

When the city of Sukhumi fell to the Russian-supported separatist forces on September 27, 1993, Zhiuli Shartava, Mayor of Sokhumi, Colonel Guram Gabeskiria and other members of the Abkhaz Government refused to flee and were captured by the Abkhaz militants. Shartava chaired the Council of Ministers of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia during the Georgian-Abkhazian War in 1993. In 1994, Shartava was officially honored as the National Hero of Georgia posthumously in 2004.

On 27 September 2017, Gabiskiria was posthumously awarded by President Giorgi Margvelashvili the title and Order of National Hero. His remains were uncovered and interned with military honors in Tbilisi in October 2017.
