The Prime Minister and the State Representative have met with farmers in the village of Natsatu
Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze, the State Representative of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Alexander Motserelia and Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili have met with farmers in Zugdidi Municipality village Natsatu and summarized the results of Insect (Asian Bugs) fighting and Hazelnut Survival Programs. The farmers provided the information to Prime Minister about the fogging machines handed over by the State and noted that as a result of proper treatment this year the farmers are expecting high quality nut harvest.
The head of government stated that the efforts will continue to double nut exports in the short term.
"Save Nut Harvest" is being implemented with support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Georgian Hazelnut Growers Association, "Ferrero" USAID and CNFA. Within the framework of the program the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture has donated pesticide fogging machines granted from the State government to farmers free of charge and is further obliged to coordinate and monitor hazelnut treatment at all stages.
Prime Minister of Georgia together with the State Representative of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti and Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture visited the nut drying of Georgian Hazelnut Growers Association (GHGA) and talked to farmers.
The aforementioned enterprise of hazelnut drying and warehouse has opened in Zugdidi Municipality, which is meant to serve more than 600 farmer’s services, having a capacity of drying 1000 tones of hazelnut and providing long-term storing of 500 tones of hazelnut during a season.
