Today is Kurban Bayram festival. The State Representative of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti congratulated Muslims living in the village Shavgele on Bairam Festival.

Celebration prayer dedicated to Kurban Bayram was performed in the mosque in Shavgele. It was attended by the State Representative of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Alexander Motserelia, Deputy Davit Fartsvania and Khobi Municipality Mayor Gocha Qajaia.

Kurban Bayram is one of the main religious holidays for Muslims. It is one of the most important holidays of the Islamic calendar which commemorates the story in the Quran of God appearing to Ibrahim -- also known as Abraham - in a dream and commanding him to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience. The celebration lasts three days.
