Shore-strengthening reconstruction works ongoing In Chuberi
Shore-strengthening reconstruction works have resumed this morning In Chuberi. The special machinery has been mobilized on the spot to clean the riverbed from the sludge-mud, debris, waste and other leftovers after flood. Deputy of the state Representative of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Nino Vibliani has been on- site.
As she stated: “If there had not been disaster prevention measures taken, restoration works carried out and bank strengthening works provided following to the water disaster in Chuberi last year, today we might have had lot more troubles, since the recent rainfall have not been less severe than it was last year. At this stage the situation has been stabilized, last night it was not raining in Chuberi; the level of water is gradually slowing down, the river is flowing into its river bed.
Despite the fact that yesterday the river Nenskra was significantly swollen by abundant rainfall, all shore-strengthening constructions were operating properly and functionally, only several minor damages took place which does not constitute life-threatening event for local population nor pose threat to surrounding infrastructure.
Just to remind the details, as a result of abundant rainfall and severe weather hazard, river Devra of the Nenskra Valley located in the Village Chuberi, Municipality of Mestia overflew causing the runoff of the river Nenskra. The swollen river damaged the Papalara and Devrula bridges.
