Shore-strengthening reconstruction works ongoing In Chuberi
As a result of abundant rainfall and severe weather hazard, river Devra of the Nenskra Valley located in the Village Chuberi, Municipality of Mestia overflew which caused the runoff of the river Nenskra. The swollen river damaged the Papalara and Devrula bridges.
The State Representative of Samegrelo Zemo-Svaneti Alexander Motserelia and Deputy Nino Vibliani have been on the spot of the disaster. At this stage the situation is stable; the water level is lowered, flowing into the river bed. On the site where the Nenskra River has been trying to break the bounds the special machinery has been brought to maintain proper water flow;
Restoration works on the overflow damaged sections will start immediately after water level slows down. At this time, the population of Chuberi and the surrounding infrastructure is not facing any threats.
Only a few water-protection constructions have been damaged, which will be restored as soon as the water level goes down. Mobilization of all applicable equipment will be provided on the spot as needed.
Last year, after the water-related disaster catastrophe prevention measures and appropriate restoration works took place in Chuberi; The river Nenskra was reinforced with riverbed protection;
Despite the fact that yesterday the river Nenskra was significantly swollen by abundant rainfall, all shore-strengthening constructions were operating properly and functionally, only several minor damages took place which have not constituted life-threatening event for local population so far nor posed threat to surrounding infrastructure. At present all municipal services are mobilized and the appropriate machinery is being involved in the disaster elimination works.
