Vice Premier Giorgi Gakharia and Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Alexander Motserelia met with Hazelnut Producers and Exporters
Vice Prime- Minister Giorgi Gakharia and Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Alexander Motserelia met with Hazelnut producers and exporters. Giorgi Gakharia talked about the challenges in the field of agriculture and offered support for the development ofhazelnut culture.
"Yesterday, the Governor's decree was announced on the reduction of crop loss and hazelnut production in 2019, which includes the principle of door-to-door driving with our population and farmers. At the first stage, this means delivering knowledge and experience to each farmer, "said Alexander Motserelia.
The Governor reminded the hazelnut producers of his initiated project to work with the Door to Door System and asked them to actively involve in the processes.
"The hazel is a culture that should support the economic development of the region. No less important tea resvival, cultivation of berry gardens and fruit production. We are ready to support the development of any initiative, "said Giorgi Gakharia.
As Vice Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia stated at the meeting, Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili plans to hold meetings in the Municipalities of Samegrelo Region, where the hazelnut producers and exporters will introduce a specific plan of development of the sector. Another news was announced at the meeting. Farmers' Day is celebrated on November 18 in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti.
With the help of experts and scientists in the fight against Asian and other pests, "Nut Producers Association", National Food Agency, "Nutrients and Exporters Association", as well as local municipal staff will visit each village together with the Governor.
