The rehabilitation works of Baghmarani Church are underway
The rehabilitation works of village Baghmani Church in Zugdidi are actively underway. Restoration works of the cultural heritage monument is financed by "Fund of Preservation and Preservation of Historical Monuments of Georgia".
David Kodua, Deputy Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti inspected the ongoing works.
The monument depicts the architecture of early Christianity and dates back to the tenth century. At this time the complex had a wall, a tower, a gateway and a tower. The experts believe that the Baghmarani Temple was the church of the local nobleman. In the thirties of the twentieth century, the Communists demolished the temple and it was in poor condition.
During the restoration of the temple, the restorers used the skipper`s stones. Fragments are made of shrimps and made from local limestone.
The restoration works of the temple began in April and will be completed by the end of the year.
