The Prime Minister delivered new Apartments to 240 IDP Families
"It is an emotional day for all of us, as today 240 Georgian families will receive apartments, a place to live, a place from where their children will safely go to kindergarten and school. It is very important, of course, but it will not change our heartache. Today is not a day for congratulations. Congratulations will be due when justice will be restored and we all will return to our families," Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze addressed refugee families who received new apartments in Zugdidi today.
The Head of Government thanked everyone who contributed to the timely completion of construction, and pointed out that 360 more families will receive new apartments next year, and that construction work to this end is already underway.
"I would like to say that I am all too well familiar the pain affecting each and every one of you. My family members are from Ochamchire. I spent most of my childhood in Ochamchire, and I know well what it all means. How do we respond to these challenges? Our response to these challenges must lie in solidarity, character, which all of you have showed, and have showed to us the next generation. Today, the large family of Bigvavas will receive two apartments in this building. They have seven children, and this must be our response to these challenges. Solidarity, character, fruitfulness, and education, so that we may excel in all this. I would like to tell and promise all of you with all responsibility that our heartfelt desire will be surely fulfilled-we will return where we belong," the Head of Government stated.
The Prime Minister also underscored the importance of the successful implementation of the House in the Village project.
"Even though the speed has increased significantly, it is not enough, and we must do more, we must build more homes, and it is also necessary to expand the House in the Village project. I would like to promise the families waiting for the timely completion of this site that we, in the shortest possible period, will complete the site under construction so that 360 families may receive apartments in a timely manner,"- the Head of Government stated as new apartments were handed to refugee families.
The event was also attended by Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Maya Tskitishvili, Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees Sozar Subari, and State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Ketevan Tsikhelashvili and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Governor Levan Shonia.
