Levan Davitashvili inspected the pest fighting activities
Levan Davitashvili met farmers in the village of Tkviri in Abasha Municipality and heard from them about the progress of the activities. The Minister, together with Deputy Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, visited the Coordination HQ of the Pest Control, where daily data is being updated and reflected on interactive map for identification of pests. On the basis of data analysis, spraying measures are planned. The system of telephone messaging is activated to inform the population about the activities, and it works hotline.
"Coordination headquarters work in an organized, continuous manner, with a planned scheme developed by the Ministry. 2017 was the first year of the challenge. In this period we have been experiencing in fighting against the Asian pests. This year, the state has mobilized a substantial resource and has increased population activity. We will have a tangible result, but the active involvement of the population in the process of fighting together with the state is of crucial importance, "said Levan Davitashvili.
The Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, together with the Deputy Governor, Head of the National Food Agency, Head of the Coordination HQ and representatives of the local authorities, inspected the cornfields and monitoring systems located in the Anjeli massive. In order not to extend the pests to the agricultural farms, up to 10 thousand "toll and destroy" stations have been installed near the forest perimeter, buffer zones and adjacent to the protected areas.
As of today, in the regions of Adjara, Samegrelo, Guria and Imereti regions, 30 thousand hectare state-owned and rural areas have been processed by thermal fossil technology, and up to 1000 hectares with cold spray.
