Business meeting with local self-government representatives of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti within the frames of NATO days
Within the frames of NATO days, an information meeting was held in Poti Municipality for representatives of local self-government of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti . The meeting was held by NATO Liaison Officer Torsten Derek, who spoke about NATO-Georgia cooperation.
The meeting was attended by the Governor of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Levan Shonia, Deputy Governor David Kodua, and Mayors of municipalities and chairmen of city councils.
NATO days in Georgia officially opened on April 16 and will last until May 1. Various cognitive-entertainment events are planned within NATO days.
In current year, NATO days are especially marked in the regions of Georgia, where on the initiative of NATO and EU Information Center and Foreign Ministry a number of measures will be taken to increase awareness and involvement of local population.
In Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, informational meetings are planned with local self-governments, NGOs and media representatives, teachers and students. Within the frames of NATO days, the tournament ‘’NATO CUP” will be held in Zugdidi with participation of local self-government representatives. Exhibition of paintings is planned in Zugdidi.
NATO Days are celebrated for the eleventh times this year and its goal is inform Georgian citizens about the alliance and NATO-Georgia cooperation.
This year, NATO days are organized by the Information Center of NATO and the European Union with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense, NATO Liaison Office in Georgia and the Bulgarian Embassy in Georgia (NATO Contact Embassy).
