The National Forest Agency starts processing damaged areas of the Buxus
The National Forestry Agency starts processing of damaged areas of buxus from April. In the regions of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Imereti, Guria and Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti, 550 ha of the State Forest Fund will be processed with biological drug. Spraying works will be carried out three times during the year (including spring from fall) due to the biology of the pest.
Pheromones will be also used as an alternative fighting method against pests.
In addition to the event of fighting, buxus restoration measures are also planned.
The National Forestry Agency also carries out conservation measures to ensure the maintenance of the Kolkhi buxus. The branch of the seed bank is located in Samegrelo region.
In 2016, the National Forestry Agency carried out spraying works in three regions of Georgia - Imereti, Guria and Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti.
In 2017, the pest was observed in 150 ha area of Racha-Lechkhumi-Kvemo Svaneti region where the Agency also carried out spraying works.
As a result of the works carried out in Samegrelo and Zemo Svaneti regions, also in some areas of Imereti reduction of pests and regeneration of damaged plants have been fixed.
