Levan Davitashvili and Zurab Alavidze held an extended meeting in Samegrelo
Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Levan Davitashvili and Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Zurab Alavidze met with representatives of 4 regions - Samegrelo, Guria, Imereti and Adjara A / R municipalities and local farmers in Zugdidi.
The Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture delivered detailed information on the measures taken by the State Strategy for fighting Asian Bugs. Levan Davitashvili talked about the four main directions that is carried out in the fight against pests, such as: information campaign, monitoring, spraying activities and scientific activities.
"We have purchased new techniques to carry out the fight against pests. We have mobilized more than 150 units this year. Field activities will be conducted according to the monitoring. It is very important to determine what the state is doing and what the population is doing, because this question is often heard. We will work on state-owned territories; As for the population directly, here we enter with special equipment; We are working with thermo mist to treat the areas adjacent to the homestead parcels and the parcels where we can minimize the population. If the population is mobilized and look at their homestead plots, we will actually be able to protect the crops. We will have several years of struggle with the pest, but we must control the population, "said Levan Davitashvili.
The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Zurab Alavidze underlined that the activities of the state structures in the fight against the Asian Bugs will be coordinated and consistent and local self-governments will be also involved in these activities.
