The World Bank is financing the project and its total value is 12 million GEL.
Rehabilitation of Zugdidi Botanical Garden will be conducted on the basis of the project document prepared by the Georgian Association of Museums, which was funded by the National Agency of Cultural Heritage Preservation and Fund "kartu" 1 year ago. In order to improve the international standards, the project was developed with their methodological advice, along with invited experts from the European Network of Historical Parks. Designing works were based on written sources based on the initial source of archaeological research conducted by the Agency in the area of the park, which has already revealed the remains of historical architectural structures and various artefacts. The project document included dendrological research of the botanical garden. Two years ago, Batumi Botanical Garden specialists preserved all the unique plant origins present on the site. Trees subordinated to sanitation were also revealed.
The project envisages rehabilitation of existing buildings on the territory of the garden, water supply systems, existing artificial lake water supply and headwork. Walking paths will be made and public toilets will be built. At the entrance will be arranged booths for the desk and for protection.
Rehabilitation works will be completed in June, 2019. The works will be implemented by the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia.
